Rocket

Rocket is my pet corn snake. She hatched May 26, 2020, and she came home with me one month later. She likes to hide in her cave during the day and explore her enclosure in the evenings, but as she’s gotten a little older, she is starting to enjoy sleeping outside of her cave in some other favorite spots. I think she’s also starting to realize I am the source of food and not something that is going to try to eat her.

Now that she’s figured out she can’t swallow a whole human, she doesn’t bite and is super chill when I hold her—also very inquisitive!

At this age, her diet consists of baby “pinky” mice. As she gets older, she’ll work her way up to adult mice. I feed her thawed-out frozen mice.

Amazingly, I was able to catch her in the act of shedding and got the whole thing on video! I’m very proud of her for having a perfect shed right in front of my eyes.
