Day 3: Oamaru and Moeraki

After a proper night’s sleep, it was time to hit the road with Craig. We drove down State Highway 1, first stopping in Oamaru. There we find Steampunk HQ.

Craig and I tried our hands at the Metagalactic Pipe Organ.

There was all sorts of other random stuff in the museum.

We walked around the Victorian Precinct a bit, stopping in at the New Zealand Whisky Collection.

Then we drove down to Moeraki. First, I should note this is the other side of the Pacific Ocean than I’m used to.

We looked at the Moeraki Boulders. These are surprisingly-spherical boulders deposited on the beach.

Next up were yellow-eyed penguins and fur seals at Katiki Point. (You’ll have to click through and then view the original-resolution photos to see the penguins.)
